Hey College People!

I just wanted to say congrats to everyone going to college. I just thought I should give some encouragement to those who facing this step somewhat alone. You know who you are. I would like to tell those of you who fit the above description that Jesus loves you and He's not going anywhere. He's always there for you. This is just a short installment of much more that I have to say to you but for now I will leave you with that.

Peace to you all!

Here are a few questions that my friend is dealing with and these are my answers as well as the answers that the Bible provides...
Q: If lifes struggles only make you stronger why do I feel so weak?
A: Going thru the struggle will make you feel weak. You won't get stronger until after. It is like working out... when you are working out it hurts and your muscle aches, but it is making you stronger in the process.

Q: If I have so much potential how come I can't see it?
A: It isn't something you can see, it is just something that you have.

Q: Why do I deserve gods grace?
A: You DON'T! nobody does.

Q: Who am I to say I'm worthy?
A: You aren't but God loves you and that is why you are worth it to Him.

Q: Why are seemingly easy decisions so hard to make?
A: Because we spend too much time thinking about how it is going to affect the rest of our lives. Just make a decision and get over it.

Q: If my future is so bright how come it looks so gloomy?
A: You may be in the tunnel where you can see the end but the while your in it, it is scary and dark and gloomy. Get it?

Q: Why do I try so hard at school if all it will lead me to is a job that I will eventually dislike?
A: That isn't why you go to school. You should pick a job you like and will love doing for the rest of your life. You would be stupid to pick a job you are going to dislike.

Q: Why do I work so hard to develope talents that will lead me to nothing in the future?
A: Developing talents is never a waste of time. God gave you those talents so you could use them and developing them is good stewardship over what God has given you.

Q: Why cant I feel adequate, successfull, Worthy, or meaningfull?
A: You can't the world make you feel that way, God is the only opinion that matters. Focus on what He sees in you and that is what is true. He sees a revolution starter, Difference-maker, and world-changer in you and so do I. Don't get discouraged.

Q: If I'm making an impact on the world how come I cant see the change?
A: Any impact you make on another person has teh potential to impact others as well. It takes time. Not everything is immediate. You are making an impact even it is one small step at a time.

Q: Why has constantly doing the things I love made them feel less than?
A: Sometimes overdoing things does make it seem like that, but it doesn't mean you really love them less. It just means you need to try that same thing a different way or so.

Q: How can anyone believe in me if I don't believe in myself?
A: You'd be surprised how God uses the weak. I've felt so inadequate at times and God still put me in places where I didn't think I deserved to be because I felt I wasn't right spiritually. Guess what God used me more than I could've imagined possible.

Q: Why do I feel so alone?
A: This one I honestly can't answer for you.

Q: How come the closer I get to success the farther it seems?
A: I can't answer this either.

Q: How come I cant be happy for myself?
A: You can, but the only way to do that is to Find out who you are in Christ and know that that is all that matters.

Q: Why do I feel like im doin the right things for the wrong reasons?
A: Everybody has done that at times. I've done that before. It is all bout keeping a humble heart. Humility is not a destination, but a process that takes time. It is never complete because Pride can step in any time.

Q: Why am I never satisfied?
A: You should never be satisfied with where you are. Always be willing to grow and learn and become better. Christ does ultimately satisfy though; He satisfies the emptiness that is in everybody before they realize the truth.

Q: What is true happiness?
A: I can't tell you; that is something you find out for yourself.

Q: Why has the word Love become so meaningless?
A: Our current media based society that is bent on materialism, hedonsim, and relativism has made it this way because they don't know what true love is because they are ignorant of our Savior.

Q: Why do i always fall for the girl I cant have?
A: You need to get you priorities straight. You don't even need a girl right now. I'm not dating until I'm 21, and God has blessed me with a girl who is willing to wait that long. What a blessing. Here's the catch. A real woman of God is what you want, but they want a real Man of GOD. Make God your focal point and that perfect girl will come around. Just wait. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit.

Q: How come no matter how good I do, or how hard I try I never feel good enough for ME???
A: I can't answer this one.

Look dude those are the answers I can provide. I'm here for you and I'm praying for you. I love you and GOD loves you even more than you can dream possible.

That's all I got for now

Brussels, Belgium...

what´s up guys

We just traveled from Luxembourg to Brussels. Luxembourgians speak French and German. It was really expensive and we avoided being stabbed by drug dealers. A guy named Ariz we met at a bus station told us that there are dealers who ask if you want drugs and if you say no they just stab you.

On a lighter note, I´m in Belgium right now. The Waffle and Chocolate capital of the world. We are going to Amsterdam tomorrow. We going to go out tonight and talk to people on the streets. Pray for open hearts and breakthrough in the lives of people over here.

I´ll tell you more in depth stories when I get home but right now I have to get going. Thank you for all your prayers and support. I love you guys and I´ll see you on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

2nd Euroblog

What up Amerikans (the K is on purpose).

We are in Stuttgart right now. We are going to visit Peter Wenz' Church tomorrow morning. We had a great time helping out with the church Friday and Saturday.

We went to an outreach on Friday where we had worship in the open square by Castle Stuttgart. That's right I said Castle. Anyways...about six of the German people gave their testimony. After that I had the chance to speak to the people...but about a minute after I started talking it started to pour like crazy. I know bummer right? It is alright.
The next day we went to another outreach and went out to talk to people. We met this girl part of the iPod religion if you remember Mrs. Kors' Apologetics class. She basically chooses all the good stuff to believe without the bad stuff. We also met this guy named Scott from Florida and prayed for him.

We also helped out at a sister church with a homeless/poor person event. We helped cook food for them and put a service on for them. Before the people came in to eat and before the service started, the people helping had a worship time that was amazing and it got us all focused again on why we are here. We are here to spread the LOVE of Christ to teh people of Germany.

We will be leaving Stuttgart on Monday to go to Luxembourg, then Brussels, then the final stop, Amsterdam. Don't worry we aren't going to do drugs or drink although people have already offered. I have thought about trying it since I'm old enough here and it isn't illegal, but I think that doing that would more hurt me than help me.

Keep praying for me and the people here in Germany to have open hearts to the Gospel and good news of Christ. God is doing good stuff here in Germany and He is definitely going to do more.

P.S.
Some German Sayings for you guys and gals:
Gott ist gut (goot) - God is good.
Jesus (said Yayzoos) leibt dich (said deek) - Jesus loves you!
Retter - Savior.
Mein Erlöser lebt - My Redeemer Lives.
Ich (Ick) von vil deiner leibe (leebay) singen - I could sing of your love forever.

Keep up your own quiet time with God every morning. Start the day off right. Live a life of worship.

Wesman truly out.

Eurotrek Update

So I arrived safely in Berlin and had to navigate my way from the airport to the youth hostel using a bus and a train. It was fun and a little confusing, but I made it. I want to thank all you guys for your prayer and support. It was raining after I made it to the youth hostel. I think it cleared up now, but my clothes are totally soaked from it. We are leaving Berlin tomorrow to go to Stuttgart and help Pastor Peter Wenz on an outreach. It is going to be so cool. I can't put pictures on the computer seeing as I'm in an internet cafe. Well this is just the first update to you guys.

Oh! and I got to see part of the Berlin Wall!!!!!!

Today...

This is it guys the first blog of Wes Hiemstra. (And surely not going to be the last.) This is my connection to all my peeps in college wherever they may be: Irvine, the big SD, Michigan, Davis... and let's not forget Santa Cruz.

All I got to say is that I love you guys, and I just want to give you guys an encouragement to keep going no matter what mud you fall into. Keep marching and trudging along, because on the other side of the swamp is a peaceful meadow.

Always have a quiet time with God before the day begins in order to start the day off right. When we put Him first, it puts our focus for the day in the right place. Worship Him (not only in song) because worship is not singing His praises only, but it is a lifestyle that is giving all we are to Him in every aspect of life whether it is respect for another person, doing your homework diligently or just helping someone out even if they didn't ask. You offer, don't wait to be asked. In my own life I personally need to work on this as well.

Worship Him always! In the good and the bad times. One example of worshipping in the bad times that I love is the story of Jehosaphat and the three armies of Ammon, Moab, and the men of Mt. Seir. He put the choir and the musicians in the frontline and he led the Children of Israel in worship. As they worshipped, the three armies turned on each other and killed every one of the other. The Children of Israel received all the spoils of three armies without lifting one sword. All because of worship.

This is the first of many encouragements because everyone needs encouragement, especially in this new period of life.
